In 2026, Yamanashi Hemslöjd was once again appointed the official general agent in Japan for the Danish Handcraft Guild. (*)

Since our founding in 1971, we have promoted cultural exchange through handicrafts. In 1976, we were appointed the sole agent in Japan for the Danish Guild of Craftsmen, and under the supervision of Mikiko Yamanashi, we have held exhibitions and fairs nationwide with the cooperation and sponsorship of entities such as the Danish Embassy, the Royal Family, and art museums, and have published numerous books.

As the new production certified by the Danish Guild of Artisans launches in 2026, I feel a renewed sense of purpose in my position and role as the general agent, bridging our embroidery culture in cooperation with the home country.

The packaging has transitioned from plastic to an eco-friendly and elegant paper box, and the quality of materials such as threads and fabrics has also been renewed. We are delighted to introduce embroidery culture that is worthy of the SDGs era.

We will strive to promote and facilitate the exchange of beautiful Danish cross-stitch embroidery, supported by history and prestige, through the quality control and sales of new products, as well as the planning of classes, workshops, and exhibitions.

It will be three years this year since the shop returned to our old stomping ground in Omotesando. We would be delighted if you could visit the store, experience the authentic works of art, and get a feel for the materials yourselves.

* (Note) This is a translation of Haandarbejdets Fremme's official English name, the Danish Handcraft Guild. Under accreditation from its country of origin since the 1970s, our company has strived to promote embroidery as a cultural art form, respecting a century of Danish tradition under this official name. With the spread of the internet, it has been a great regret to both the Danish association and to us that for over fifteen years in Japan, the name "Fremme" has become widespread as if it were a brand name.

From January 2026, production will change to be certified by the National Guild of Danish Craftsmanship once again. The production source and kit format differ from products that were previously distributed under the name "Hulme". In this desirable new environment, we too, with renewed determination, will strive further to promote and exchange Danish embroidery culture.

Delivery times for bespoke orders

Currently, the manufacturer is hand-making the kits one by one.

All items from the Danish Handcraft Guild's kits are available to order. Please feel free to enquire about items you may have seen in past catalogues. If an item is not in stock at our Omotesando store, please note that it currently takes approximately 3-6 weeks for delivery, subject to availability from the manufacturer.

After purchase, please check the contents of the kit.

When you purchase an embroidery kit, please take the time to check the pattern and materials. If there are any issues, please contact the retailer within one week.

Due to the nature of the product, we cannot accept exchanges or returns for another kit. However, we will report this to the manufacturer and do our best to resolve the issue. If your company (retailers, schools, etc.) wishes to stock Danish Handcraft Guild embroidery materials, please contact our office via email. About the Danish Handcraft Guild's kits and designs

Please help protect the copyright of designs from the Danish Handcraft Guild, which are loved all over the world. The designs and kits from the Danish Handcraft Guild are valuable assets to the Guild and to Denmark, and therefore they tend to deal very strictly with copyright infringement. Yamanashi Hemslojd has played a role in widely introducing and protecting these designs, which are also Danish assets, for approximately 50 years.

Please note the following:

• Designs from the Danish Handcraft Guild's kits cannot be used for any purpose other than personal use, including publication.
  
• For exhibitions, permission and an exhibition fee are required. Please contact us with the title and number of your work. We will inform you of the necessary details for display, the consent form, and the exhibition fee (which is proportional to the kit price and covers the Danish Handicraft Guild's support costs). Once the consent form is submitted, we will send you authentication. It may be possible to exhibit in public institutions such as schools without charge.
  
• Any unauthorised use or sale for purposes other than personal use, or any plagiarism or repurposing of the design, will result in a fine for violation of international copyright protection agreements. Even for personal use, please refrain from duplicating or copying the design. When publishing works on social media etc., please include the official name "Danish Handcraft Guild", the designer's name, and the product number.
